Toileting and Self Care
Self-care activities are the daily tasks children and people complete to take care of themselves independently. Some of these independent tasks include:
Getting dressed
Bathing/showering
Toileting
Grooming activities (brushing teeth, combing hair)
Feeding, and
Sleep
Difficulty with completing self-care activities and following routine can stem from a variety of reasons including motor problems, sensory processing issues, reduced attention and executive function impairments.
For individuals, difficulties with self-care activities may be expressed as problems with adhering to a morning or bedtime routine.
