Little Sparrows Therapy is an owner-operated allied health practice with an 11-year history in Cairns. We support clients of all ages to build skills, confidence and independence, with a strong focus on paediatrics and disability.

Starting Your Career?

Your induction and initial caseload will reflect your experience and support needs. We’ll discuss physiotherapy-specific supervision and mentoring arrangements with you as part of the recruitment process, so you understand the support available before joining.

You’ll work alongside colleagues in physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech pathology, with opportunities to share ideas and learn across disciplines. Fortnightly team workshops provide further opportunities to develop your knowledge, with topics chosen by the team.

We welcome physiotherapists who want clinical autonomy, opportunities to develop their interests and a voice in how services are delivered.

If mentoring or clinical leadership interests you, we can discuss responsibilities and remuneration as part of your role. Experienced clinicians who want to focus on direct clinical work are equally welcome.

Your Work

You’ll help clients improve movement, strength, mobility and physical function so they can participate more confidently in everyday life.

Depending on your skills, interests and agreed caseload, your work may include:

• Supporting gross motor development, balance and coordination.

• Building strength, endurance and functional mobility.

• Supporting clients with disability to work towards their movement and participation goals.

• Assessing movement difficulties and developing individualised therapy and exercise programmes.

• Helping clients and families incorporate practical strategies into everyday routines.

• Working with families, carers, educators and other health professionals to provide coordinated care.

You’ll work across clinic, school, home and community settings, with caseloads reflecting your competence and agreed scope of practice. We’ll discuss your preferred age groups and clinical interests during recruitment.

Salary & Benefits

• New graduates: $86,000–$95,000 + super.

• Experienced and senior clinicians: $96,000–$125,000 + super, with scope to negotiate according to relevant expertise and responsibilities.

• A dedicated professional development allowance and fortnightly team workshops.

• Administrative support with client enquiries and bookings.

• Flexible scheduling by agreement and mileage reimbursement.

• Opportunity to apply for a regional professional development bursary of up to $10,000, subject to eligibility.

• One-hour lunch breaks to run errands, unwind or catch up with the team.

Qualifications & Experience

• A recognised qualification in physiotherapy.

• AHPRA registration, or the ability to obtain registration before commencing.

• Working with Children Blue Card and NDIS Worker Screening Check, or the ability to obtain them.

• An interest in evidence-based, person-centred care and working collaboratively with clients and families.

• A driver’s licence and reliable vehicle for school or community visits preferred.

• NDIS, disability and private practice experience is valued but not essential. We also welcome clinicians bringing transferable skills from hospital, rehabilitation, musculoskeletal or other settings.
