Covid-19 Updates

Update 2: 12/08/2021 - End of Lockdown

The Cairns 3-Day lockdown has now ended and we will begin to return to our regular conditions of service at the clinic.

We will continue to operate with many of the previously implemented modified conditions such as:

  • Social distancing

  • Covid safe QR code check-ins

  • Hand washing/sanitation

  • Limiting too many persons in one room at a time

To help keep you and others safe while at the clinic, please follow all directions of the staff and please contact us and let us know if you are unwell or have any symptoms consistent with Covid-19.

Please continue to follow all directions about current restrictions in place from the QLD Government.

Update 1: 08/08/2021 - Cairns 3 Day Lockdown

On Sunday the 8th of August, 2021 at 4 pm, Cairns will enter a 3-day lockdown. For more information about this please click here.

Little Sparrows Speech Therapy is an essential healthcare service so we will remain open for the 3-day lockdown with modified conditions to the way we operate. The following changes will be implemented to keep our patients, families, carers and our staff safe throughout this period.

For all appointments during this period we are asking that ALL patients, parents and carers do the following:

  1. Please arrive at your scheduled appointment time and if you arrive early, please wait in your car until your appointment time. Unfortunately, we must limit the number of people waiting inside the clinic

  2. We ask that patients attend appointments with only 1 support person (either a parent or carer). All siblings and other family members will not be able to enter the building

  3. Check-in using the CovidSafe Checkin QR code

  4. Everyone entering the clinic will be required to complete a temperature test

  5. Everyone must use sanitiser or wash hands upon entering the clinic

  6. Social distance from others while inside the clinic

  7. Masks must be worn by all adults entering the clinic - (exemptions apply for children and people with a disability)

  8. Cancel your appointment and do not come to the clinic if you have symptoms or are unwell in any way

Little Sparrows Speech Therapy and staff will be doing the following during this lockdown:

  1. Social distancing and limiting contact with patients where possible

  2. Wearing necessary PPE during oral examinations, dysphagia assessments or any procedure that requires close contact with a patient

  3. Wearing masks throughout the day

  4. Limiting seating in our waiting areas

  5. Extra cleaning and wiping down surfaces regularly throughout the day

  6. Temperature checked before the start of every day

  7. Hand washing and use of sanitiser before, during and after client appointments

  8. Offering Telehealth services for clients where possible and subject to availability

  9. Cancelling appointments if unwell or showing symptoms consistent with Covid-19
